Guardian homes
Occasionally we keep a puppy to be a future Cheristone mum (or dad). Because we believe it’s important – and it's part of our ethos – for our adult dogs to have a wonderful family life with lots of individual attention, we'd like to find some special guardian homes for these puppies.
What is a Guardian home?
We place a puppy with you to raise and keep forever as your own family dog. At the same time, she remains part of the Cheristone breeding programme until she’s finished having her own puppies.

What does this involve?
You take the puppy home when she's eight weeks old, go to puppy training class, love and raise her.
Ideal location
When she’s old enough, she’ll have some health testing if that all goes well, we’ll schedule her first litter of puppies. She’ll come to Cheristone to birth and raise her puppies, which will involve an approx. 8-9 week stay with us. She'll have no more than four litters in total and once she’s finished having puppies, she’ll be completely signed over to your family.
We’ll provide lots of photos and videos of the puppies so you can enjoy watching their progress and you’re welcome to visit and meet the puppies.
We're located near Taunton, Somerset and ideally you’ll live within an hour of us, please see catchment map, so you’re able to bring her to Cheristone when required.
A male dog wouldn’t need to stay with us for an extended period of time, but would need to be brought to Cheristone for stud duties.
